Sam Whitfield

Sam Whitfield has been automating his house since the X10 era — before hubs were cool and before every device wanted a subscription. He runs a 40-device setup across a fixer-upper he's slowly wiring room by room, and he keeps a spreadsheet of what every device costs him per year, subscription included. Sam tests every device he writes about in his own home, photographs it on his own shelf, and tells you exactly what will break your Wi-Fi budget before you buy it.
